There are a few common themes regarding new developments as expressed by our residents in Dartmouth Centre District 5.
Building Height & Style
It is most commonly expressed that residents do not want new buildings – residential or business – to be excessive in height. Residents greatest wish for new buildings is that they will fit in with the size and aesthetic of the existing community.
It has been expressed that new developments should have a requirement for green space to benefit the residents of the new building as well as helping keep a positive community aesthetic.
Sidewalks and Transport Options
It has been expressed that new developments must be made with accessible sidewalks and with consideration for a possible long-term vision to connect areas with a grid of active transport pathways where possible.
Residents have expressed varying degrees of frustration regarding certain new “monstrosities” which have been created without consideration of the points above.
